Biography
Avery Brown discovered his passion for music performance as a young boy singing in a men and boys choir throughout the great cathedrals of England. He has also received extensive piano training in classical, jazz and contemporary styles. This training has served him well as musical director of more than 50 professional plays including, "Billy Bishop Goes To War", "The Rocky Horror Show" and "Cabaret". Avery composed the score for "Circus Fire", which received the Critics' Favorite -New Play Award at the 2006 Prague Fringe Festival. Avery has also written much music for choreography and has written music for three "Bravo! dance" for projects. One of them, "Eterne Sangui", earned the People's Choice Award. Recently, Avery spent 6 summers (and 2 winters!) in Dawson City, Yukon as the musical director and pianist at the world famous Diamond Tooth Gerties saloon and gambling hall.
Avery is back in Calgary, teaching, playing, writing and getting to the mountains whenever he can.
